How We Work

Every mover has a job, and every job is checked

Elite runs every move with a crew where each person has a defined role and a checklist, not one lead and a few helpers. Here is who does what, and how your moving day runs from the email the day before to the last piece placed.

Why Roles

Specialists, not one lead and helpers

On many moving crews one person knows the job and the rest follow. At Elite every crew member is a specialist with his own part of the move and his own checks, so nothing depends on one person remembering everything.

The roles are the same on every job, and the crew knows them before arriving: the evening before a move, each mover gets the customer's details and his part of the day.

It is comprehensive for a reason. A move goes smoothly when everyone does their job, and the checks protect your home, your belongings and our crew.

Meet the Crew

Who does what on your move

Top Gun

The driver

Top Gun checks out the tools and equipment for the day and runs a driver inspection on the truck before every job: tires, mirrors, windows, fluids, engine and coolant, so the move is never held up by a truck that should not have left the yard.

Maverick

Your contact on the day

Maverick sets out the cones and safety gear, lays the floor runners and door-jamb protection, walks the home with you, and records any existing mark on time-stamped video before a single piece moves. He keeps you updated all day, and at the end of the day he checks that every piece is placed and nothing is missing.

Iceman

Supplies and equipment

Iceman is in charge of the packing supplies and the equipment: wardrobes, boxes, pads and dollies loaded before the job, and the truck set out in order so the crew is never hunting for what it needs.

Viper

The fourth mover on bigger jobs

On larger homes a fourth crew member joins. Viper fills the gaps where the day needs him: folding and shaking out pads, helping with supplies, and keeping the truck clean and organised as it loads.

Rudy Becerra, owner of Elite Movers

The Coach

Rudy Becerra, known as Coach

Rudy wrestled and trained in martial arts growing up, and he runs his crew the way a coach runs a team: everyone knows their job, why it matters and how it is checked. Customers pick up the name quickly.

By the end of moving day, you will probably be calling him Coach too. He is on the end of the phone throughout your move, and on site himself for the heaviest and most technical jobs.

Moving Day

How your moving day runs

Six steps, the same on every Elite move.

  1. 01

    The day before

You get a reminder email the day before the move, so you know who is coming and when.

  2. 02

    On the way

We text you on the morning of the move when the crew is about 20 minutes out.

  3. 03

    Arrival and walkthrough

The crew knocks, walks the home with you, and parks the truck where it works for you and your neighbors.

  4. 04

    Protection first

Safety gear and cones go out, floors get runners and door jambs get pads. Any mark that is already there is recorded on time-stamped video before a single piece moves.

  5. 05

    Wrap, pack and load

Every piece is pad-wrapped before it leaves the room. On a full pack move the crew packs the home room by room, so nothing is left for you to box up.

  6. 06

    Placed and checked

At the new home each piece goes to the room you want it in, and at the end of the day the crew checks that every piece is placed and nothing is missing.

Protecting Your Home

Protection goes down before anything moves

Floor runners, door-jamb pads and pad-wrapped furniture are on every job, not an extra. Existing marks are recorded on time-stamped video at the start, and the same crew handles your things from the first room to the last.

The right truck matters too: our 28-foot and 26-foot Freightliners, and a climate-controlled ProMaster van for steep drives and art. See the fleet.

Questions

How we work: common questions

Who will be in my home on moving day?

Elite's own in-house crew, never subcontracted labor. A typical crew is three movers, each with a defined role, with a fourth on larger homes. Rudy Becerra, the owner, is on the end of the phone all day and is on site for the heaviest and most technical jobs.

What if something in my home was already damaged?

Before anything moves, the crew walks the home with you and records any existing scratch, mark or crack on time-stamped video. That protects you and us: there is never a question afterwards about what was there before the move.

Will the same crew do my whole move?

Yes. The crew that wraps and loads your home is the crew that unloads it and places every piece at the new one. There are no handoffs to another team partway through.

Why do your movers have call signs?

Every crew member has a defined job on every move, and the call sign tells everyone, including you, who is doing what. It is part of how Rudy, known to the crew and to most customers as Coach, runs the team.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Elite Movers is licensed and insured, with California BHGS permit MTR0192064 and USDOT 3356160, family operated since 2010. We send a certificate of insurance for your building or HOA before move day.

Plan your move with the crew

Tell us the addresses, the size of the home and your date, and we will walk you through how your move will run.
